Prefabricated Garage Kits – Different types available and their advantages

Prefabricated garage kits are an excellent choice for the do-it-yourself type person to save time and money when building a garage. They require very little construction skill or specialized knowledge of the building process. Most kits can be built using common tools that most people either own, or can borrow without much difficulty – you just need to know how to follow instructions! Even if you’re planning to hire someone to build the garage for you, using a prefab garage kit is a good idea – it will greatly reduce the amount of money you have to spend on labour.

Compared to building a traditional stick frame garage, prefabricated kits have a number of advantages:

  • Their fast construction time means they are less exposed to weather while being built.
  • There are much less waste and leftover materials to deal with once the garage is finished.
  • You don’t need to price lumber or timber, and ensure it is consistent and high quality. All the components you need should come straight and squared.
  • Because of the discounts received by the manufacturers, you can often buy a prefabricated kit for LESS than the cost of the uncut lumber and other materials.
There are many different types of prefabricated garage kits to choose from:
  • Pole barn kits use wooden poles to support the rest of the structure, and dirt or gravel is used instead of a cement or concrete floor and foundation.
  • Panelized garage kits come with the walls in pre-assembled sections, you just need to stand them up and nail them in place according to the instructions.
  • Steel tube garages have a skeleton made of round or square tubes that fit together. Once these are assembled you put the included siding over the frame.
  •  Steel arch buildings do not have a frame. Instead, the walls and roof are formed by steel arch panels. These support themselves.
By far the easiest way to construct your own garage is with a modular garage kit. Modular garages are pre-built in sections, and then delivered to your home. You can attach additional sections to turn your single car garage into a multi-car garage without extensive renovations or labour costs.

If you are planning to build a garage, you should research prefab garage kits. You may just save yourself time and money, along with the stress that comes with undertaking any kind of construction project.

  4. Steel buildings are without a doubt the best method to construct any building, including sheds or horse arenas. Steel is a lightweight material, which makes it easier and preferable to work with. Its robustness makes it very hard to beat when it comes to construction materials
